Taken - 7/10
Doesn't really waste any time getting into it and keeps up a good pace throughout. Liam Neeson also deserves a mention for his impressive performance. |

Taken - 8/10
Didn't know too much going into the film but its surprisingly good to see some good all gritty action sequences without resorting to action ala Bourne style. And on top of the all the action it has a reasonably decent story with Liam Neeson putting in a great performance as the Dad on a mission to rescue his daughter before she gets sold off into the human trafficking industry after visiting Europe.
Serenity - 10/10
Perfect, what can I really say.
Good Will Hunting - 8/10
MATT DAMONNNNNNNNN plays a janitor at Harvard who lives in a rough bit of town but one day he solves the equation on a chalk board at Harvard which took 3 years to write, the professor takes him under his wing but can't get through to him so checks up on an old friend (Robin Williams) who was very similar to Matt Damon when he was younger. Good all round drama, one of Matt Damon's few really good performances, Ben Affleck & Robin Williams included.
Die Hard 4.0 - 7/10
The fourth time I've seen it & it still holds up, yes its a bit ridiculous at times but its still Die Hard underneath all the effects.
Monty Python & The Holy Grail - 8/10
Random, pointless, & F-ing hilarious.
21 - 6/10
Decent enough movie about a bunch of MIT students & their tutor playing the casino's in Las Vegas by counting cards, pretty by the numbers but still enjoyable dumb fun. |

Quantom of Solace - 7/10
Trying too hard to be like Bourne for me, it didn't feel like a true Bond film. It was still a good action flick and Daniel Craig was great once again.
Vantage Point - 7/10
I can understand why it got bad reviews but i liked the different perspective story telling, even if it didn't always work.
Saw V - 4/10
Felt really tired and offered very little to the ongoing story, pretty piss poor the more i think about it. |

Quantum of Solace - 7/10
better than I expected but still falls short of CR & the editing is not to my liking at all, nice ending & Craig was as good as ever.
Saw V - 5/10
I think the saw series might finall be losing its touch, where was the big twist, the traps were dull, the actors boring.
Zack & Miri Make A Porno - 5/10
Never been a big Kevin Smith fan minus Mallrats but I think he's lost some of the Kevin Smith style since this is more Knocked Up/Superbad than anything else. |

Max Payne - 6/10
I'm a big fan of the games so I was obviously gonna be disappointed & I was. The story, the actors, the style never quite hits the mark. Mark Whalberg is great as Max Payne but you feel the script never really gives the right kinda of emotional impact that the games played on. Good at best, still of the best video game adaptions.
Basic Instinct - 5/10
Has a few good thrilling moments...as in thrilling = sex, the story just about makes it interesting to watch.
A History Of Violence - 8/10
If I didn't know that this was actually based off a comic then I would of never ever guessed it. Viggo "Aragon" Mortensen plays a happy family man who hasn't done a thing wrong, then some thugs proceed to rob the coffee shop he works at & Viggo ends up beating the shit out of them & shooting them in self-defence, he becomes a local hero but some shady characters start to follow him around & things become more clear about his hidden past. Excellent acting by Viggo, Mario Bello, William Hurt, & Ed Harris, extremely recommended.
But I'm A Cheerleader - 6/10
Comical indie movie about a cheerleader being told by family & friends that she is a homosexual & she hadn't even realized till it was pointed out to her. She gets sent to this camp where they teach you to become straight again. The style of this film is so colourful, the whole if it is in a cheesy happy bright colours style. Some of the situations the campers are put in are hilarious if just a little crude but strangely enough in an almost innocent crude kinda way. |

Ultimate Avengers - 5/10 & Ultimate Avengers 2 - 6/10
Fianally got round to watching the Ultimate Avenger movies, looks lke Marvel should stick to live action, both these movies & the Incredible Iron Man movie a while back were a little disappointing & lacking coolness, just let DC make the animated movies, Superman:Doomsday, Justice League:The New Frontier, & Batman:Mask of the Phantasm to name just a few classics.
Sky High - 9/10
Awesome film set in a world with superheroes, the character in this is the son of the two greatest superheroes & is starting Sky High the High School for kids with super powers, problem is he hasn't got any yet. Filled with countless laugh out loud moments & an awesome cast including Michael Angarano, Kurt Russell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (daughter in Die Hard 4.0), Bruce Campbell (Groovy), & Lynda Carter (yep Wonder Woman). Highly recommended for anybody who likes superhero's or a light hearted funny spoof film. |

24: Redemption - 9/10
I can class it as a film, just to say i can't wait for the new series to begin. Does what it needs to do and fills the void between season 6 and 7.
Resident Evil: Regeneration - 6/10
I thought it was alright in the plot and looks department. More of the story should have been based inside the airport for me, and the cheesy silent pauses where characters stare at each other get kind of annoying. |

Transporter 3 - 6.5/10
It's got nothing on the first two Transporter movies, it starts off slow & doesn't pick up till half way through but in the end its got some awesome cheesy stunts/action & Jason Statham topless...twice, what more could you possibly ask for.
Judge Dredd - 9/10
Not the best comic book adaptation but probably the most underrated, screw TDK, Spiderman, & the Incredible Hulk |

Zero Effect - 8/10
Virtually went completely under the radar when it came out, Zero Effect is smart thriller about the P.I. Zero played by Bill Pullman who is the greatest detective in the world (after Batman ) & his trusty assistant Ben Stiller (in one of his few serious roles), who Zero uses to go round talking to clients since Zero is reclusive. Very nice little film so few have heard about.
Loving Annabelle - 9/10
Daughter of a senator has to go to her third school after getting in trouble once again cue rebellious teen sent to an all girl catholic school who then falls in love blah blah blah blah blah but wait she falls in love with her teacher, yes the teacher is female. Not a film made for titillation but actually a very very good drama about love.
Ghost Town - 6/10
Ricky Gervais is a dentist, he has a near death experience & now he can see ghosts who have yet to make to the after life. Not his best performance but it is entertaining if a little light on laughs.
The Crow - 10/10
Fourth best comic book movie ever, this movie has better drama, action, & style than Batman Begins+TDK+Iron Man put together. If you've never heard of this movie I urge you to go watch it. |

X-Files I Want To Believe 7/10
Despite not expecting much with all the criticism surround it I was pleasantly surprised.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 9/10
Excellent drama starring Brad Pitt as the man who was born old & as he gets older he physically gets younger. Some of the most groundbreaking facial effects ever made.
Slumdog Millionaire 10/10
Screw TDK, Iron Man, & every other movie (minus Hellboy II) last year this movie is far beyond those movies, touching drama about a guy who is doing really well on the Indian Who Wants To Be Millionaire. Overnight he is interrogated by the police for fraud before going on to continue the show the next day & explains to them how he knew all of the questions so far from things in his past, they also tell a touching story from being a young kid to growing up. Directed by the great Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later), ignore the fact its about Indians its freaking amazing.
Seven Pounds 8/10
Will Smith plays an IRS guy who helps out a few people for no apparent reason, I think it might get him an Oscar Nomination. Only film which came out last year which brought a tear to my eye.
Lakeview Terrace - 6/10
The Diving Bell & The Butterfly - 7.5/10
The Other Boyleyn Girl - 6/10
Scarlet Johansson & Natalie Portman in the same movie
My Blueberry Nights - 5/10
The Fountain - 5/10
Alien Nation 9/10
Buddy cop movie with a twist, aliens, well worth a watch, easily my favourite cop movie ever.
My Name Is Bruce - 8/10
A B movie in which Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead) plays himself being duped into saving a small town from a monster, takes a little while before the real jokes kick in but overall, GROOVY!!!!!!!
Mamma Mia - 4/10
Nice cast shame about the American actress who plays the bride to be (the worst type of American girl annoying), original sure but everything is just a little too perfect for my liking (e.g. not one single ugly person minus a maid) though I did really enjoy the last 10min, shame the whole movie wasn't like that.
The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat - 2/10 |
